A May 5 workshop will highlight record-keeping and taxes for agricultural businesses, with a class in Fairbanks and by videoconference in five other Alaska communities.
The workshop will be taught by local accountants Paul Robinson and Kelly Ward, and is co-sponsored by the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service and the UAF Community and Technical College. Videoconference sites will be held in Delta Junction, Homer, Soldotna, Kodiak and Anchorage.
The $25 workshop, which will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m., will include record-keeping requirements of the IRS, tax planning and preparation. Topics will include depreciation rules, the domestic production activities deduction, soil and water conservation expenses, forestation and reforestation costs, and the hobby loss rule.
